about

I
am a multi-talented visual artist/designer who thrives in challenging, deadline driven environments. I have a strong creative sensibility and am not timid about voicing my ideas. I have a love for clean clear design and a solid understanding of layout, typography, hierarchy and user/reader behavior. I take pride in my work and have the experience, confidence, organization and skills to do whatever is needed to get the job done.
I just finished a long-term contract working part-time at Wells Fargo as a Senior Graphic and UI (User interface) Designer. In this role I was wholly responsible for design and delivery of all user interfaces and graphical elements for 3 major Intranet Portals at Wells Fargo. I was also responsible for a major site redesign in 2011 and documenting the new Portal User Interface and Design Standards. This contract lasted 7 years.
In addition, I am currently teaching almost full time at the Art Institute of California - S.F. teaching all levels of Graphic Design both to Graphic Design majors as well as Fashion Design majors.
Previousely I worked full-time as a Senior Designer/Art Director at Studio J,
a design firm in Novato, doing CDs, Intranet and Internet work as
well as supporting print materials. Our main client for the last 5
years was Charles Schwab. We designed their Intranet site for
over 2 years. The last 2-3 years was been spent on their award-winning
International Internet trading sites.
At
Studio J, the majority of the work was web art with supporting print
projects, but previously I have a lot more experience with print.
I had my own clothing company for 15 years, producing all marketing
materials, including catalogs, myself. I also had 6 employees and
know how to delegate effectively and work efficiently.
I have done PowerPoint and print projects for VISA, Wells Fargo, Lucent,
Schwab and other large corporations as well as small businesses. I
was the layout artist for the Northbay Multimedia Newsletter for 3
years and have done design and production work on several other magazines
and publications, including ads for freelance clients. I have many
years of daily experience with most graphic design software on both
pc and Mac.
Working
for a clients like Wells Fargo and Charles Schwab on the intranet as well as internet
sites has given me a unique ability to see what is needed in large
institutions both internally and on the web. The Intranet site is
much more "original design" intensive. After the initial
design work, the internet site was mostly layout design and really
working within the many existing legal and design constraints. I have
designed ads, banners, posters and other marketing materials for the
internal needs as well as the public web site (web and hardcopy).
I have also been involved in screen-by-screen layouts for the trading
site, this includes charts, graphs, (printable) application process
screens, everything from icons to error messages. While working on
the intranet site we provided illustrations for news stories
every day.
